POWER PLANT OPERATOR
Glencoe Light and Power Commission is a Municipal Electric Utility seeking an individual in the mechanical/electrical technician field (or equivalent work experience) to operate and maintain its generation facilities and substations in compliance with all applicable state, federal and industry related regulations.
Desired education and experience include a two-year degree in an electrical or mechanical technical program with moderate experience in electrical and mechanical work or equivalent. Ideal candidate would also have knowledge and understanding of electronic instrumentation and control equipment such as PLC’s and SCADA systems.
Requires a valid driver’s license and must obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license within 6 months of employment. Ability to report to the Generation Facility within 30 minutes. Must obtain a “Special Engineer” boilers license within the first 6 months of employment. A post-job offer physical, including drug/alcohol test is required.
