Solar On Public Building Grants

The Glencoe Light and Power Commission is pleased to announce the installation of a new 40 kW solar array that will provide station power to our main facility while generating approximately 70,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean, renewable electricity each year.

This project was made possible through the Solar on Public Buildings Grant Program from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, supporting our continued commitment to sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and environmental stewardship here in Minnesota.

The new solar array will:

  • Produce an estimated 70,000 kWh of electricity annually
  • Provide station power for our main facility
  • Reduce long-term energy costs
  • Lower our carbon footprint
  • Demonstrate leadership in renewable energy for our community

By harnessing the power of the sun, Glencoe Light and Power Commission is investing in a cleaner energy future while making responsible use of public resources. We are grateful for the state’s partnership and proud to take this important step toward expanding local renewable energy generation.
