Glencoe Light and Power Commission has entered into a long-term contract with Waste Management to purchase the power created from the Spruce Ridge Landfill. Power is created from the conversion of the methane gas produced by the decaying landfill material to energy. We are proud to be a leader in Minnesota for this type of energy production.

We are also proud to be part of State of Minnesota’s Conservation Improvement Program intended to improve awareness and adoption of energy-efficient technologies, reduced energy costs for residential and business customers, increased business profitability, deferred utility infrastructure investments, reduced emissions, and conserved resources. Since partnering with Energy Management Solutions, Inc. (EMS) to help implement the program, we have analyzed over 10,000 facilities and saved customers over $500,000,000 in energy costs.
